Hamra Abbas was born in Kuwait, and lives and works in Boston, MA, and Lahore, PK. She has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including “Hamra Abbas: Wall Hanging” at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, MA, and the artist has also been included in important group exhibitions at, amongst other venues, the MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Art, Rome, IT; National Art Gallery, Islamabad, PK; Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, CA; and Sharjah Art Foundation, AE. Abbas’s works of art were, additionally, included in the 2017 Karachi Biennale, PK; 9th Sharjah Biennial, AE; 3rd Guangzhou Triennial, CH; and 15th Biennale of Sydney, AU. They have been acquired by many institutions, including the Borusan Contemporary, Istanbul, TR; British Museum, London, UK; Kadist Collection, Paris, FR; Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi, IN; and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO.
