Patricia Cronin is a New York-based, award-winning, interdisciplinary visual artist whose paintings, sculptures, and public art examine issues of gender, sexuality, and social justice. Cronin’s work has been exhibited widely in institutions such as the Georgia Museum of Art, Athens; National Academy of Design, New York, NY; and New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY. At the 56th Venice Biennale, IT, the artist presented Shrine For Girls which later traveled to The FLAG Art Foundation, New York, NY; LAB Gallery, Dublin, IE; and Museum Catharijneconvent, Utrecht, NL. Other solo exhibitions of the artist’s work were presented at, amongst other venues, the Centrale Montemartini in Rome, Italy.
Memorial To A Marriage has been exhibited in over 50 exhibitions in the United States and abroad, at institutions like the American Academy in Rome, IT; Brooklyn Museum, NY; FLAG Art Foundation; Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, UK; Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane University, New Orleans, LA; and Tampa Museum of Art, FL; bronze versions of it are in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian, Washington, D.C., Pérez Art Museum Miami, FL; Fuhrman Family Foundation, New York, NY; and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow, UK. It is the world’s first Marriage Equality monument, and it is the centerpiece of the LGBTQ+ VR Museum, Bristol, UK, and Copenhagen, DK.
