By Larry Poons
The intimate, energetic image is based on a painting on wood; it exemplifies Larry Poons’ painterly abstractions, and was selected by the artist for the edition. Triangle Arts Association is publishing the edition, “Cherry Bobalink,” in consortium with Benefit Print Project, in support of the institution’s residency program for artists. An alumnus himself, Poons is one of many illustrious art world figures with whom Triangle has worked since it was founded by Anthony Caro and Robert Loder in 1982. Among many hundreds of others, past participants include artists such as Ron Gorchov, Al Loving, Ingrid Calame, Hamra Abbas, Jitish Kallat, and Hew Locke along with visiting critics such as Clement Greenberg, Michael Fried, Robert Storr, David Cohen, Carter Foster, Ian Alteveer, Frank Gehry, and Karen Wilkin, to name just a few.
