“Checked Key” comprises eight hand-sculpted and formed printed aluminum sections with irregular hand-cut edges and copper wire. The composition was created specifically for this project; it exists only in this form and recalls movements in the Western canon that include Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, and Post-Minimalism. “Checked Key” equally draws from other art forms and non-Western traditions, such as hand-engraved and embossed bindings with precious stones and gold, and is exemplary of the artist’s internationally acclaimed sculpture.
